VINTAGE CONDITIONS
The wines of the 2021 vintage are that of balance, style and exceptional varietal characteristics.
Late winter and spring rains set the vines up for a highquality year.
Summer was mild with below average daytime temperatures and cool nights, which led to the development of fabulous colour, pristine aromatics and flavours with good natural acidity.
TERROIR/PROVENANCE/REGION
Sourced from Barossa vineyards with vines varying in age from 10 to more than 35 years.
The vines are planted in a diverse range of sites with slight variations in micro-climates and soil types, which vary from red-brown earth over red clay, sandy loam over clay through to sandy soils.
These variations contribute to the diversity of flavours in Samuel’s Collection Barossa Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon.
TASTING NOTES
An attractive deep ruby to garnet colour.
This fullbodied blend reflects its maturation in oak with mouthcoating tannins and notes of black olives, chocolate and toffee.
Shiraz dominant the wine opens in the glass to reveal red currants and pomegranate, supported by spicy Cabernet Sauvignon notes of tobacco and fresh tomato leaves.
The palate is complex, well-knit but not tight and very well balanced.
A wine that is elegant and lingers on the palate.
