Vineyard: Eastern Barossa Valley.
Fermentation: Destemmed and fermented in open fermenters for 5 to 7 days.
Twice daily pumpovers by real humans.
Wood: Seasoned oak Puncheons and hogsheads for 12 months.
Nose: Ripe plum and mulberry, mocha and herbal spices.
Palate: Rich, ripe and full, this fruit driven wine delivers dark fruit flavours and finishes with soft rounded tannins.
Cellaring: Drink now to 5 years.
A collaboration between great mates Warwick Murray and Kym Teusner, Smokin’ Barrels sources unique parcels of fruit from each corner of the Barossa Valley, North, South, East and of course the Wild West.
With gun winemaker Kym Teusner at the helm, it’s no surprise that the quality and value of these wines speak themselves.
Drawing inspiration from the Wild West (1865-1895), the wines are characterised by famous outlaws, lawmen and sharpshooters of the period.
‘Wild Bill’ Shiraz is based on James Butler ‘Wild Bill’ Hickok; the most famed gunman of his time.
‘Butch’ Merlot is named after and inspired by Butch Cassidy; the leader of a gang of criminal outlaws known as the ‘Wild Bunch’.
‘Bass’ Cabernet draws inspiration from train robber, Sam Bass, whose Union Pacific heist was the most lucrative of the time, whilst our ‘Annie’ Chardonnay is named after Annie Oakley, AKA ‘little sure shot’ a sharp-shooter who travelled with Buffalo Bill’s Wild West crew.
