The vineyard
Riesling thrives in cool climates, with chilly nights and a lengthy ripening season giving the wine delicious acid and beautifully concentrated flavours.
Despite Clare Valley’s slightly warmer weather, it’s perfectly suited to growing world-class Riesling; at a higher altitude of up to 500 metres, pure air, light afternoon breezes and cooler nights make for ideal conditions.
Our Sequent 2021 Riesling comes from a 10 acre block on one of the highest vineyards in Clare, planted by Roy Schaefer, a respected local grower.
In 2017, Roy sold the Moccundunda North Road block to the McInnes family who have tended the vines with great care ever since; sharing their precious fruit with only two winemakers each vintage.
We think Clare is the best Riesling growing region in the world and are proud to make our Sequent Riesling from a locally owned, family run single Clare Valley vineyard.
The wine
We only make our Sequent Riesling in Clare Valley—it is the best expression of region and variety—paying due homage to both.
Our (secret!) winemaker Ang has a long track record of making fine Riesling in Clare; we sought her out because we liked her style and we worked together to make a wine we all love.

Sequent Clare Valley Riesling has elegant and lean Riesling characteristics—hallmark juicy, tangy fresh lime, citrus blossom and a crunch of crisp green apple resulting in an intense structure, a real depth of flavour and a bright, concentrated aroma.
Delicately balanced natural acidity is supported by a touch of texture to bring a generous, lingering mouthfeel. Delicious to drink immediately.
Food pairing
Refreshing and zesty Sequent Riesling will make a mouthwatering pairing with anything you’d typically serve with a generous squeeze of citrus.
Try it with a kingfish ceviche, lemonprawn pasta or fish and chips. Or maybe just with a bowl of salty potato chips in front of the TV.
Serving
Sequent Riesling doesn’t need to be icy-cold before drinking.
7—8°C after a short stint in the fridge is about right.
