Spicy, peppery and intense, our Shiraz is neither heavy nor jammy.
This is a stylish and sophisticated Shiraz that embodies the concept of terroir – the vineyard’s unique characteristics continue to influence the flavour and structure of this delightful lighter style red.
First vintage made in 1984
Tasting Note
A deep bright inky crimson red, the nose shows fragrant, ripe berry flavours lifted by dusty exotic spicy notes.
There is generous complex fruit flavour on the front palate, leading seamlessly through to a very dry firm tannin finish.
Vineyard Region:
Fruit for this wine is grown in our mature, dry grown vineyard that yields just one tonne per acre.
No artificial fertilisers, pesticides or herbicides were used.
Growing Conditions
Our old dry-grown vines grew a wonderfully balanced crop with great flavour development, and potential for long lived wines.
Winemaking
Our Peppertree Vineyard Shiraz has a component of whole bunch fermentation which gives a wonderful lifted perfume to the wine and helps with the tannin structure.
The Shiraz is estate bottled after 18 months in French oak barrels.
