Hand Crafted By Geoff Hardy Nero d'Avola 2019

Hand Crafted By Geoff Hardy Nero d'Avola 2019

Story: Nero d’Avola is the most widely planted red grape variety in Sicily and takes its name from the Avola region on the south-eastern part of the island.
The variety likes hot and dry climates, making it perfect for McLaren Vale.

Vintage: The 2019 growing season started slowly, but warmer weather eventually helped to speed things up.
Fruit set throughout the region was good and the low rainfall and warm weather from January to April resulted in great sugar development, while a cooler than average March offered ideal night temperatures for colour and flavour development.

Nose: The nose is beautifully vibrant with enticing aromas of red berries, plums and notes of spice.

Palate: The flavours of red berries and spices burst onto the youthful and fresh palate, followed by tight acidity and a lingering finish.

Food Pairings: Serve with gnocchi with pumpkin, ricotta, pine nuts and burnt sage butter.

Oak Maturation: 9 months in seasoned French and American hogsheads.

Cellaring: Drink now or to 2026
