Chalk Hill Clarendon Syrah 2017

Chalk Hill Clarendon Syrah 2017

Aroma: Highly perfumed with bright red fruits, floral notes, combining with spice and a hint of French vanilla.
Palate: A beautifully balanced and textural wine with brambly red currants and dark cherries on the palate.
Fine silky tannins and a long lingering finish.

Winemaking Notes
Fruit was sourced from a superb vineyard nestled in the cooler foothills of Clarendon, in the northeast corner of the McLaren Vale region.
It's a mature vineyard that has wonderful bright red fruit with high levels of perfume.
The fruit was handpicked in the cool of the morning with 30% kept as whole bunches in the ferment.
Using wild yeast as the fermenting agent, the wine went through a gentle ferment over 12 days before being transferred to a combination of second- and third-use French oak barrels (a combination of 500L puncheons and 300L hogsheads).
The wine was kept in oak for 14 months prior to bottling.

Ageing Potential: The wine drinks young beautifully, highlighting the vibrant fruits and perfume.
It will cellar well for 5-10 years, with tannins softening and integrating from 2023.

Alcohol: 14%
