Paringa Shiraz 2019

Paringa Shiraz 2019

92 Points - Mike Bennie - WBM (Wine Business Monthly)

A ripper value red here.

Bold, big, fleshy and full, booze soaked berries, figs and dates, smoky spice and clove/cedar wood notes abound.

It sits plush and lush in the palate and drives with thick rolls of tannin.

A trued winter warmer finding excellent balance and concentration

"Paringa is no stranger to the ‘Best Buy’ tags with Wine Enthusiast and Wine Spectator with no less than five Best Buys over the last 20 vintages proving consistency of quality year on year.
This years’ review of the 2019 Paringa Shiraz is 90 points and it has been listed as a Best Buy in the 2021 Wine Enthusiast Mag.

Wine Enthusiast critic Christina Pickard lauded the wine’s balanced fruit and oak flavours and satiny texture;

“This is rich and ripe but comforting, like a blanket on a cold winter’s night.
There’s a well of cherry, plum, chocolate, mint, cedar and some savory spice.
The palate is plush and satiny in texture, with a good lick of oak influence.
The tannins are powerful but they don’t overwhelm.
It’s a weeknight wine for the big red lovers in your life.”

– Christina Pickard, Wine Enthusiast, 2021"

Tasting Notes

The colour is a dark, inky deep red, almost black with a vibrant garnet hue.
The bouquet is lifted and intense with aromas of ripe plum and blackcurrants as well as exhibiting notes of integrated oak, mocha, white pepper and caraway seed.
The palate is extremely rich and generous with a labyrinth of dark plum, chocolate, cedar and spice.
The subtle and integrated French and American oak tannins add complexity to the secondary notes of the wine and compliment the fruit and acid structure resulting in a savoury and lingering finish.
