Coriole McLaren Vale Sangiovese 2015
Sangiovese was pioneered in Australia by Coriole Vineyards with the first plantings in 1985. It provided a contrasting style to Shiraz, the great tradition of McLaren Vale. It has proved to be ideally suited to the warm maritime climate of the region. The fruit is sourced from some of the oldest producing Sangiovese vines in Australia.

Medium to deep red to brick-red colour showing some development. This theme continues on the bouquet which is dominated by savoury dried herb and sousbois aromas, with background aniseed, while the palate is again mellow from development, savoury and dry, with earth-bound flavours of dried herbs, discreet spiciness, earthy and autumnal undertones. The tannins are quite firm - but ripe - and add the kind of structure that would enable it to stand up to flavoursome foods. Very good in a more Italianate, non-fruity style.
